Why I Refuse To “Reach Across The Aisle”
My humanity is never up for debate
I am a human being.
“Um, yeah Rod, that’s obvious.”
No, it’s not. Not to racists and bigots.
And as a Black person, I refuse to debate my humanity with anyone for any reason.
I refuse to reach across the aisle to people who believe I am inherently beneath them, subhuman, unintelligent, and somehow not deserving of the human and civil rights they enjoy.
What is there to reach across the aisle for?
What is there to debate? What is supposed to be the compromise?
That I’m a full human being instead of three-fourths?
You cannot argue with racists.
The fallacy of their innate superiority has been ingrained in them since birth. White supremacy has indoctrinated them to believe they are the societal default in everything and in every situation.
They also believe in my innate inferiority because of that same insidious indoctrination. Debating and arguing with racists has no merit.
It will not change their deluded ideology.
It most definitely has not stanched the torrential flow of innocent Black blood that soaks the ground…
