Why Apple TV Plus Is THE Streaming Destination For Sci-Fi Fans
Apple’s streaming platform is the new epicenter of sci-fi excellence on television
I blame actor Jason Momoa.
It was stumbling upon Momoa’s dystopian TV series SEE that led me to a startling discovery: Apple TV Plus has quietly become the epicenter for high-quality and entertaining sci-fi television.
Aside from the triumphant return of Star Trek to TV via Paramount Plus, no other streaming platform — even the declared winner of the streaming wars, Netflix — has come close to consistently producing the number of acclaimed sci-fi shows as Apple TV Plus.
So what makes Apple TV Plus’ streaming sci-fi so outstanding? It’s a number of distinct reasons.
Chief among them, Apple’s streaming series look damn good. No matter the show you select, each episode looks cinematic in scale and scope.
With its deep pockets, Apple opens its checkbook when greenlighting a speculative project, and the results are very evident on screen. For example, Foundation, the adaptation of author Isaac Asimov’s iconic sci-fi novels, has cinematography and a visual signature deserving of being described as breathtaking.
