Vena, I applaud your courage and stance. Black people have long been indoctrinated (mainly by religion) to ("forgive" your enemies and love those who hate you). These dangerous platitudes have placed many of us in grave peril, while allowing the hate and violence represented by MAGA to fester and flourish. Unfortunately, I was born, raised, and still reside in a very red state (I'm working hard to change the latter). I had to learn to navigate the racists surrounding me. Thankfully I WFH. But my motto going forward after the election is "match energies." We don't owe MAGA forgiveness, compassion, empathy, or tolerance. Thanks for sharing your experience. It's going to help many of us in this new era of chaos.
