Thank you for shedding light on how being marginalized from day one alters the daily reality of Black people in this country. Halloween has never been my favorite holiday - except for all the left over candy that goes on sale the day after. When I worked in the corporate space, my white peers would go ALL OUT. Not me. I never wore a costume or went to Halloween-themed after-work events or parties because I just didn't feel comfortable. Then, as you mentioned, there are the inevitable photos of White people in blackface surface each year as well. Nah, I've always been content to [maybe0 watch a scary movie on Halloween, eat some candy, and call it a day.
