DELL Technologies’ ultimatum to its remote employees backfired, symbolizing the defeat of RTO mandates

In a remarkable turn of events in the saga of return-to-office (RTO) mandates, DELL Technologies issued an ultimatum to its remote workers, and they called the tech giant’s bluff.

Per reporting by Ars Technica, DELL issued a mandate to all its remote workers to return to the office — or face the consequences.

Those “consequences” remote workers were facing?

If they remained remote, they could never, ever be considered for new roles or promotions within the company.

In a baller move, half of DELL’s remote workers said, “Cool. Bet. We’ll just take our current paychecks and remain remote.”
