I'm so sick of the framing of this election cycle being one where people have opposing "political opinions." Nope. Believing other human beings should be stripped of the same human rights and freedoms you enjoy isn't just about differing opinions. It's about a fundamental difference in morality and worldview. I couldn't fathom attempting to sit at a dinner table with people who believe I shouldn't have civil and human rights because of the color of my skin - or who believe the racism I contend with "isn't a real issue." I can't imagine being a sexual assault survivor breaking bread with someone who elected a man convicted of said crime. No, this goes much deeper than just, "I believe in trickle-down economics versus a person who doesn't." I would say it's wild that folk don't get that, but when I look at who the majority re-elected, no, it's not that crazy at all.
