Hi Kimi, thank you so much for sharing your memory of your father. He was wise to recognize the distorted reality of television and film - particularly as it pertains to the history of this nation. Being a book worm, books are where Black storytellers are thriving. You mention Black people in sci-fi and fantasy. Black indie authors are writing AMAZING speculative stories centering us, told from our perspectives that we are not getting in onscreen media. Octavia Butler's legacy is alive and well, I'm pleased to say. I commend you for your storytelling and encourage you to continue. We need storytellers like you now more than ever. Peace.
