This one is going to be short and sweet: Hell NO, Black people can not be racist. There is no such thing as “reverse racism” - which would be no racism, instead of the fallacious meaning attributed to the term.

According to the online edition of the Merriam-Webster dictionary, racism is defined as:

a belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race — and —

the systemic oppression of a racial group to the social, economic, and political advantage of another

The key component to the definition is the term “systemic oppression.”

When conversations about “reverse racism” are engaged, racism is often conflated with bigotry and prejudice.

Referring to the Merriam-Webster dictionary definition, prejudice:

preconceived judgment or opinion

(2)

…an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge
